Alexander Taylor - Scotland’s oldest bakery.
The artisan bakery in Strathaven, South Lanarkshire, produces a large range of hand-crafted breads, tea breads, patisserie, and beautiful celebration and wedding cakes.
Barry Taylor and his wife Claire have been at the helm of Alexander Taylor’s bakery and café for 30 years.
2020 marked 200 years in business for this remarkable enterprise, which has been run at the same site by the Taylor family for six generations.
The oldest bakery in Scotland, Taylor’s is part of the very fabric of Strathaven - and it just gets better with age!
A rare gem in South Lanarkshire.
Amongst its highlights are grilled sour dough sandwiches, soup, coffee, and patisserie in the café, and almond croissants, Kanelbullar, Ramsay’s black pudding & chorizo sausage rolls, opera slice, Tosca, and an excellent array of breads from the bakery shop.
Everything is baked to Barry’s exacting standards, and sold by Claire and her team in the bakery shop and café.
This rare gem is definitely worth a visit.
