Cairn Lodge Services Farm Shop & Kitchen is a family-owned motorway service area that cooks good food from scratch and champions Scottish produce.
Built in the early 1990s by entrepreneurs John and Aileen MacInnes next to Cairn Lodge, the eighteenth-century gatehouse of the now-derelict Douglas Castle. Now Cairn Lodge is part of the Westmorland family, a family-run motorway services business that grew out of a Cumbrian hill farm. Together with their sister businesses Tebay Services on the M6 and Gloucester Services on the M5, they were named the UK’s top three service stations by Which? in 2021.

The family work closely with a community of farmers and makers, including more than 90 in their local area and across Scotland.

In their cafe, Cairn Lodge’s local team make food from scratch as you would make it at home. They cook simple classics with love and care, from full Scottish breakfasts and hot porridge in the morning to homely lasagne, fish and chips, proper pies and frittata.
The team’s own-recipe cakes and bakes take pride of place on the cake table, where traditional scones and fluffy muffins are seldom long out of the oven. They also use meat, fish, bread, eggs and milk from local producers.
