Small batch craft rum, made from scratch in Lanarkshire.

Old Mother Hunt was founded by husband and wife team, Matt and Becky, after Matt lost his job as an airline pilot during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The company became a lifeline for them as they have two young children to support as well as their own futures to consider.

Becky and Matt’s story.

OMH was born out of a desire to create their own path in the world, as the economy was dreadful and job opportunities were so scarce. Sitting around and waiting for the pandemic to end just wasn’t an option as neither of them were on furlough. They decided to follow their life-long dream of running their own business and started making rum. It’s a spirit that is gathering momentum and becoming more popular, with a big focus on UK made rums.

When they started OMH, they contracted out the initial distillation of the pure white rum and then rectified and compounded it themselves to make a beautiful range of 5 rums. They have recently just secured their own Distillers Licence so now they are making their own rum from scratch using 100% molasses. This will allow them to create a completely bespoke rum that depends entirely on their method, still and recipe.

An honest, authentic spirit.

They currently have a range of products that will suit all rum drinkers and new comers to the rum world and all of them can be sipped neat or enjoyed with a mixer or cocktail. The flavours for each rum are carefully selected to enhance and highlight certain profiles. Have a look on their website for cocktail ideas and inspiration.

It is their aim and philosophy to create everything themselves from website design, to bottling, to advertising. They lovingly produce an honest, authentic spirit with minimal impact on the environment and maximum impact on your taste buds.
